Initial Demo Launch + Plans


Today I’m launching a demo for my next major project: Steelbreakers! It is a competitive action game with heavy influences from The Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Brothers and Power Stone. Like my first game, Sol Standard, my goal was to create a game I wanted to play that didn’t exist. Since I was a kid, I always wanted to play a Zelda game that demanded technical skill and would let you fight with your friends on a top-down 2d playing field.

While I gauge interest in this project (including fixing major bugs folks come across), my next steps are to take a bunch of the things I’ve learned making Steelbreakers and bringing those back to my first project; Sol Standard. I will be giving the UI and backend code some significant overhauls to meet my raised standards for my work.

Once that work is done, I intend to return to Steelbreakers to add a whole bunch of new content (netplay, weapons, maps, game modes like team stock/wave defense/etc, and more) for the full release. I hope you enjoy the game and I look forward to hearing your impressions!
